This PLS5 system package comes with the HVD 500 laser detector and a bracket for pendulum layout target, in addition to the standard floor stand, magnetic wall bracket, carrying pouch, and hard carrying case (available with the PLS5 tool-only package). The tool measures 2-1/2 x 6-1/2 x 4-1/4 inches for portability around the job site. For your convenience, the PLS5 can run for more than 30 hours on three standard AA-sized batteries (included). All PLS tools are designed and manufactured to meet strict quality control guidelines, and the PLS5 is backed by a three-year limited warranty.
Versatile, Precise, and Easy-to-Use for Improved Efficiency
As a construction professional, you know exactly how time consuming and tricky to master bubble vial levels, plumb-bob setups, and complicated rotary lasers can be. Developed by contractors to help you work more efficiently, the PLS5 point-to-point laser is precise, portable, and simple to use, making it ideal for everything from drywall, carpentry, HVAC, and electrical work to steel erection and glazier use. This mew design is smaller, more durable and easier to use then the original PLS5.The PLS5 features five bright, easy-to-see beams with all beams square to each other, which lets you quickly trace plumb lines from floor to ceiling or from 50 feet off the ground. The PLS5 is the ultimate Layout laser as it provides Plumb, Level and Square layout points. With the HVD laser detector, you can even shoot level benchmarks and set control points in bright sunlight. This included detector extends the working range of your laser tool from 60 feet visibly outdoors to 250 feet with the HVD detector. Indoors in normal lighting the beams are visible to 300 feet.
The PLS5's intuitive design also includes a cantilevered nose that makes it easy to see the laser's down beam over two-by-fours, metal tracks, and plates. It comes with the unique PLS pendulum target, which transfers the beam down to the work surface and can be used to transfer control lines from floors to walls.
The PLS5 is accurate within 1/8-inch at 100 feet. To help ensure this accuracy, if the self-leveling range is exceeded, the beam shuts off to alert you.
PLS Benchmark Dampening Ensures Consistent, Reliable Layout Results
Like all PLS point and line laser alignment tools, the PLS5 is fully self-leveling, and it takes full advantage of the patented PLS pendulum design and magnetic dampening to deliver real, usable results. Dampening is the settling down effect on the laser beam, and thanks to this advanced technology, all PLS point and line lasers settle down instantly when moved to a new layout point.
Additionally, this system compensates for job site vibrations caused by compressors, generators, and other heavy equipment, preventing the laser point from "jumping" around and ensuring that your laser delivers accurate, usable information. This helps your team get jobs done right the first time to save you time and money.
Three-Year Limited Warranty
PLS has upgraded its warranty from a single year to a three-year limited warranty. During this warranty period, your PLS product will be repaired or replaced (with the same or similar model at our option), without charge for either parts or labor, through PLS.
If your laser tool ever does need to be serviced, PLS offers fast, 48-hour factory turnaround on repairs or replacements to help ensure that your PLS laser line tool continues to provide accurate performance and improved productivity for the full duration of your career.

1st Customer Review : Absolutely worth the money!
This tool is the best layout laser I've used. The self-leveling feature (which is gravity-operated, not motorized) works quite well and the beam settles down very quickly, none of the see-sawing you get with a cheap unit.
The 5 beams make plate layout for an addition quick and painless (although a second floor target would be helpful). When we raised the addition walls, there was no fooling around with a spirit level - bump the floor stand against the bottom plate, pull the wall to where the dot hits the top plate, and nail the brace. Fast. Simple.
To my knowledge, this is the only 5 beam laser that uses a pulsed beam, meaning that it will work with a detector in an exterior application. That's the biggest reason for the price difference between the PLS and the Bosch or Stanley. We used it to set the corner pins for our most recent addition. Fast. Simple.
Would I buy this again? Without hesitation. (I can't believe how long I went without one.)...

2nd Customer Review : Where's My Water Level?
(Full disclosure: This commentator still carries and uses a water level made from clear tubing and filled with water and food coloring for easy marking registration. The water level is the only leveling device this writer has ever owned that has never failed or needed batteries, required recalibration, or demanded delicate handling. The water level happily lives in a chopped up old Clorox bottle when it's not performing on the job.)
Time and technology marches on. I once worked with an old carpenter that owned a tilting-table, table-saw. With this tool, the arbor of the table saw stayed perfectly vertical and the table of the saw actually tilted in order to cut bevels - it was an amazing (and historical) piece of machinery but as you might imagine, difficult to use for anything but ninety degree cuts, showing first hand why the modern "tilting arbor" table saws became popular. Tools change, sometimes for the better.
Today it is hard to find a job where laser...
