Title : KINTREX IRT0424 Professional Non-Contact Infrared Thermometer with Laser Targeting and Adjustable Emissivity
Description : The KINTREX IRT0424 Professional Non-Contact Infrared Thermometer with Laser is the most advanced thermometer in the KINTREX line. Lightweight, compact, and easy to use, the IRT0424 can safely measure hot, hazardous, or hard-to-reach surfaces without damaging them. Employing an ultra efficient non-contact method, the thermometer can provide several readings in a matter of seconds. This advanced thermometer grips comfortably and provides rapid readings without target contact.

With a 16:1 distance to target ratio, the thermometer measures smaller surface areas at greater distances. The IRT0424 has an advanced and highly accurate infrared sensor with a Distance to Spot Ratio of 16:1. It uses two AAA batteries instead of the 9-volt battery commonly found in less capable units. With its low-voltage, application-specific integrated circuit, the thermometer's battery life is increased by up to 60-percent.

This infrared thermometer provides accurate readings over a broad range of temperatures from -76 to 1157 degrees Fahrenheit (-60 to 625 degrees Celsius). It displays both current temperature and maximum temperature on the bright backlit LCD display.

Featuring an ergonomic pistol-grip design and rugged ABS construction for industrial environments, the IRT0424 comes with a nylon holster for easy storage and transportation. This versatile non-contact infrared thermometer has been designed for a broad range of uses, including automotive diagnostics, HVAC service, electrical troubleshooting, cooking and food preparation, and hobbyist activities.

This product is covered by KINTREX's 2-year warranty.

1st Customer Review : Great value if this is what you need
I spent a lot of time shopping for this item. Most comparable units cost significantly more and hardly perform better.

The first good feature is that this unit is light weight and uses 2 commonly available AAA batteries. Some of the comparable units use expensive, heavier, rechargeable batteries. If you don't use the backlight and laser, the batteries will last a long time (rated 14 hours of continuous use). The display is easily visible in most normal lighting conditions, I have yet to require the backlight for any extended period. The laser is a nice touch when you're measuring electronic components on a circuit board; but, really isn't necessary for most HVAC or cooking applications. So, in my case the battery life is quite satisfactory.

The second good feature is the automatic High, Low, Difference and Average calculation built into the tool. A small spot size is great for differentiating which componenent on a circuit board is hot; but, leaves a bit...

2nd Customer Review : Excellent and feature-packed
Most likely you, the person reading this, are comparing this thermometer to others, including the KINTREX IRT0421. This review will be a pros and cons list based on that.

Pros:
- Adjustable emissivity - for outstanding accuracy if your application demands it
- 16:1 spot ratio - makes the measuring area that much smaller. I don't think anything in this price range has that spot ratio.
- AVG/MIN/MAX/RANGE features for long-term measuring.
- Adjustable F and C display.
- AAA batteries.

Cons:
- Laser pointer can be a bit confusing to first turn on. Read the manual. No, the laser pointer is not broken.
- More expensive than the KINTREX IRT0421.
- Switching from F to C and vice versa isn't as straightforward as the IRT0421.

Overall, highly recommended.
3rd Customer Review : Puzzled
I got the unit for Christmas and have not had problem one. I'm not sure but I think it may a misunderstanding. The laser is controlled by the (Trigger) not the large center button under the display. So when you want to control the laser you must push the trigger and the left button. Not the center button and the left button. Hope this helps. I am not sure about the accuracy though, It doesn't agree with my thermocouple but this is my first infra-red thermometer so I might be doing something wrong.
